To those of you who keep popping in, hoping to find a new post, I do apologize! This summer is just whizzin’ by! We’ve been quite busy, which of course is a good thing, but it’s been hard to break in new habits like blogging. As autumn approaches and the pace slows a bit, it should be much easier.
I just love summers in the shop. As busy as this time can be, it’s a more relaxed sort of busy. Our regulars pop in for a refreshing iced tea and to catch up on local news, the summer contingent come in to see if we’re still here, (Of course we are!), and newbies discover us for the first time. I just love it when our summer customers become repeat customers and visit us summer after summer. We have a number of customers who have been visiting us for 8 years now! It’s always a delight and an honor to welcome them back. (“Hello!” to Devon from M.A., and “Welcome Back!” to Kendra and Susan from C.A.)
This week-end is the Island County Fair here on Whidbey. Usually, this old-fashioned fair is busy and we are slow. So, tomorrow, Aug. 19, we will close the shop and I’ll take my staff to the Seattle Gift Show at the Convention Center in downtown Seattle. We need to find a few more special things for the coming holiday season and we’re always on the lookout for new, wondrous tea accessories. With tea growing so in popularity, there are always new things to discover. One of my favorite suppliers of small necessities such as infusers and strainers is now importing teas direct from Sri Lanka. We will be stopping by to sample for sure!
For those of you within driving distance of our shop, do stop by over the next several weeks. It is “Summer Clearance” time for many gift items and will soon be “Last Call” for several seasonal teas. We have to make room for all the new inventory on the way!
Have a great week-end!
