Today is most definitely a day for mulled cider here on Whidbey Island! We have 8 inches of snow on the ground and it is now snowing again! I’ll be preparing a large kettle of spiced cider this afternoon with our wonderful mulling spices.
Mulled Cider:
Gently simmer 1 quart apple cider, or cran/apple juice, with 2 Tbs. Mulling Spices for 5 to 20 minutes. (5 minutes for a gentle spice, longer for stronger.) Remove spices and serve in mugs garnished with a cinnamon stick or orange slice.
Mulled Wine:
Gently simmer 1 pint Burgundy wine and 1 pint cider or 1 quart Burgundy wine and 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar (to taste), and 2 Tbs. Mulling Spices for 5 to 20 minutes. Remove spices and serve hot with cinnamon stick or chill and serve over ice.
