The nicest things can take you by surprise. After reading about my desperate dive into the chocolate chips, a dear friend stopped by and surprised me with a small box of my favorite sea salt sprinkled, chocolate covered caramels from Sweet Mona’s here in Langley. Thank you, Ruth, for your thoughfulness! I am allowing myself one perfect caramel with a cup of tea in the afternoon. Quite a satisfying treat. : )
Arriving in yesterday’s mail was the little daily journal I ordered from Frankie Press in Australia. It came wrapped like a gift with a cheery card tucked under the baker’s string tie. I actually waited a day to unwrap it, because it looked so lovely sitting on my desk.
As of this morning, it is open and employed. I love it! Early this month I decided I will start keeping a little journal. Key word there is “little.” No big commitment here. I just want to record a few sentences, a thought or an observation each day this year. Perhaps I’ll note the weather, what’s up (or not) in my garden, or even what the price of milk or butter was when last I shopped. If we find a piece of property and build again, I can record the progress of that as well. Someday, perhaps a young relative (maybe a granddaughter?) will enjoy a glimpse into my daily doings.
This small Daily Journal is just the right size and is so charming. It is bound in sage fabric with a ribbon page marker to match. There are botanical illustrations for each month, and the pages for each week are decorated with what looks like old-fashioned calico fabric designs. This small journal will be a delight to use. It is just right.
I revisited Frankie Press and see the journal is now out of stock. I’m so glad I ordered when I did and will make a note (in the journal) to order next year’s in December!
