I was so tickled to have our tiny shop mentioned in the NW Weekend insert in the Jan. 22 Seattle Times newspaper. You can read a little about Freeland, its history and offerings, here. Island Tea Company is under the 3:00 pm time slot. As a result of that little mention, we had 5 or 6 new customers come in this past weekend. It is always so fun to find out how people find us.
The Seattle Times travel writer, Carol Pucci, came into my shop two weeks ago with her husband and shared a pot of tea. I did not know who she was until the next day when she called to formally introduce herself and ask a few questions. I started laughing and apologized for all the interesting entertainment that had occured and she laughed saying they had enjoyed their visit. How very gracious!
Carol is focusing on writing about affordable day trips and some of the places not so well known. That is so nice, and so appreciated!

Those little mentions are worth their weight in gold — and besides it’s so exciting to have it land right in your lap, unexpectedly. How nice.
And for those of us who like finding new places, I for one am most grateful for such blurbs and notes.
Congrats,
Jenny
